Position Summary


ACCOUNTANT/FINANCIAL ANALYST

Full Time: Β Hybrid/remote work opportunities available for this position (Must reside in MO, IA, AR, KS, KY, TN, IL, or FL)

Primary Responsibilities

Β 

  • Reconciliation and analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure compliance, integrity of balances and accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Reconciliation and analysis of various operating ledger accounts to ensure proper budgeting and reporting for the overall health of the University
  • Responsible for general ledger accounting, including journal entry preparation
  • Prepare various internal and external financial reports and analysesΒ 
  • Prepare work papers for annual external audit
  • Apply all internal and external policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with internal and external (federal, state, and other agencies) regulatory guidance
  • Ability to evaluate and apply generally accepted accounting principles
  • Research, review and resolve unusual variances with minimal supervision
  • Serve as liaison between the controller’s office and financial managers across the university campus
  • Conduct training with University personnel on accounting procedures


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business with appropriate experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles; prior accounting job experience a plus; Β grant experience a plus
  • Demonstrated use of a computerized accounting system; Β prior experience with reconciling and analyzing balance sheet and income statement accounts a plusΒ 
  • Must be PC proficient with strong experience using Excel, Word and Access
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience and understanding of customer service
