Role: Advisory Business Intelligence Engineer.
Duration: 6-12month + contract with potential extensions
The Advisory BI Engineer is a senior technical and strategic leader responsible for designing and delivering enterprise‑grade semantic models, driving BI engineering excellence, and advising leadership on best‑in‑class data practices. This role blends 50% hands‑on engineering with 50% architectural and advisory leadership, making it ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical expertise and strategic influence.
You will own the design and implementation of Lakehouse semantic models in Databricks, applying Kimball modeling principles to build scalable, performant, and governed BI assets. You will mentor junior engineers, lead project delivery, and serve as a trusted advisor to both Data Engineering and Analytics leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of enterprise semantic layers using Databricks Lakehouse and Unity Catalog
- Build scalable, performant semantic models aligned to Kimball dimensional modeling best practices
- Provide hands‑on development in SQL and Python, including complex transformations and model optimization
- Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering standards, and provide final sign‑off on BI engineering deliverables
