Job Summary


The assistant to the director/data specialist/career counselor will provide support to The Center in four distinct roles including Data Collection and Reporting, Project Coordination, Career and Professional Development, and Program-Specific Student Development. 


Job Duties & Responsibilities


Student and Alumni Career and Professional Development: 

  • Develop and provide a comprehensive range of career and professional development services, programs, and materials that focus on career exploration, informed decision-making, professional development, experiential learning, employment assistance, strength finding, etc. 
Data Collection and Reporting:
  • Collects data and prepares weekly reports that demonstrate student, organizational, employer, faculty/staff, and alumni engagement with The Center. Develop and administer surveys to collect relevant data (employer satisfaction surveys, student satisfaction surveys, graduating senior surveys, etc.). Compile and disseminate information to stakeholders through various means. 
Project Coordination: 
  • This position plays a vital role in coordinating, keeping records for, and assisting in the supervision of programs and organizations under the umbrella of The Center. 
Career and Professional Development: 
  • Responsible for assisting students and alumni with basic career and professional development needs; informing constituents of relevant information regarding the practices and techniques used by The Center
Program-Specific Student Development: 
  • Coordinate division/department-specific outreach to identify programmatic needs and/or customized career and professional development seminars, workshops, and programs. Work with divisions/departments, organizations, etc. to collect information regarding experiential learning. 
Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Minimum:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience in student development, program oversight and record-keeping, computer technology, and public communication are integral  
  • Well-versed in higher education processes and procedures and career and professional development strategies
  • Must be an effective first point of contact/front-line communicator capable of conveying relevant information from The Center for Career and Professional Development to various stakeholders, including university officials, employer partners, students, alumni, and community members. 
  • Relevant Skills needed include planning and organizing; information collection and management; problem-solving; attention to detail; decision-making skills, communication skills; discretion; and ability to work under pressure.
