Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Business Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Herndon, VA with some remote work possible. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative will modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers.Β

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support all project phases from inception through completion.
  • Work with the customer to capture and translate high level functional, technical, and performance requirements into detailed acceptance criteria for epics / user stories in an Agile delivery environment.
  • Facilitate data-driven decision-making by presenting clear, actionable insights to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Document business value and technical requirements for data-related projects.
  • Decomposition of high-level information into details; abstracting low-level information; distinguishing requests vs needs; distinguishing requirements vs solutions.
  • Assist Deployment Leads, engineers, and other internal stakeholders with client facing activities to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives.
  • Work with the development team to ensure that they understand the requirements.
  • Provide business area and technical expertise to management and stakeholders to facilitate planning, set direction, define business initiatives, and develop solutions to business information systems needs and requirements.
  • Be able to manage multiple assignments, changing priorities, and work independently with little oversight.
  • Participate in the Agile delivery meetings and collaborate with the Agile team(s) and other program staff as required.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal communication coupled with strong listening skills.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:Β 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8-10 years’ of experience or Master’s Degree and 6-8 years’ of experience.
  • Strong understanding of business and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified business information processing systems.
  • Experience eliciting and documenting functional, technical and performance requirements.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical ideas to audiences with varied technical backgrounds.
  • Experience crafting and coordinating official correspondence.
  • Excellent administrative/organizational abilities.
  • Agile Framework experience; working as a part of a Scrum Team.
  • Active Secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearances are acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications:Β 

  • Knowledge of Azure Cloud, data analytics and data science tools and frameworks, data quality strategy, data lake and database concepts.
  • Experience researching new technology for inclusion/use on customer programs.
  • Prior work experience in a fast-paced, variable environment.
  • Experience using business process modeling tools such as Rational Systems Architect, Enterprise Architect, Viso, etc.
  • Experience using engineering environments and tools that support Agile development tools such as JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, Confluence, IBM CLM/ELM.

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
