Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence, the Business Data Analyst plays a critical role in supporting decision-making processes at Haventree by leveraging data to provide insights and recommendations. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, risk management, and operations, to analyze data, develop detailed requirements and reports, and support business goals. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical background, business acumen, and the ability to communicate complex insights to various stakeholders.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (operations, product, finance, risk, etc..) to deliver analytics solutions that align with business goals.
  • Partners with business leaders to identify opportunities where data and analytics can drive business improvement.
  • Solicits business requirements from executives, managers, SMEs for data centric initiatives.
  • Creates readable, yet detailed requirements documents, for data centric applications.
  • Creates functional & non-functional specifications that speak to both business and IT.
  • Creates testing strategies that cover integration, UAT and performance testing.
  • Partners with business and IT to create test plans based on risks and coverage.
  • Partners with the business and IT to create test cases and test data sets.
  • Participates in the execution of test cases and the tracking of testing results.
  • Supports the business and IT during various steps of planning, development, and execution.
  • Develops, documents and maintains test artifacts such as test data and data validation rules.
  • Partners with the business and IT to investigate data anomalies and propose solutions.
  • Identifies any potential quality issues and escalate to Management.
  • Partners with business and IT to facilitate routine changes to the data centric applications.
  • Encourages good data management practices and adhere to our Data Governance policies.
  • Evaluate and streamline existing reporting systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Experience:

Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:

  • The position requires a bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Data Science, Economics, or a related field. A professional certification in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or Financial Analytics is a plus.

Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:

  • 5+ years of experience as a BA or Analytics Advisor preferably in financial services.
  • 5+ Years of experience on data-centric projects/initiatives.
  • Proven ability to gather requirements from senior leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Proven ability to drive all aspects of testing from planning through execution to sign-off.
  • Very strong English communication skills is a must (written and verbal).
  • Preferred experience includes:
    • Strong skills in data analysis tools (SQL, Python) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
    • Familiarity and experience with Agile development methods.
    • Experience working in a cloud-based data analytics environment.
    • Business Data Analysis Professional certification.
    • Experience working with large datasets and financial systems.
