Business Intelligence Engineer - 6 month contract (40+ hr/week)

The Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer will be responsible for developing, managing, and deploying
various business intelligence solutions that will enable the business to transform data into meaningful
insights. The BI Engineer’s role is to assimilate data from multiple sources into consumable data
solutions as well as assist with the development, governance, and management of various data
platforms. The BI Engineer must be capable of networking with business stakeholders regularly to
gather data requirements, provide necessary guidance, offer recommendations, and translate end userΒ needs into technical specifications.

This role requires you to attend the office 3+ days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday are mandatory)

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into effective data solutions
  • Provide technical design, coding, testing, implementation, maintenance, system, and technical support for BI initiatives
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards for cross-functional groups including but not limited to Finance, Inventory Management, IT, Operations, Sales, and Manufacturer Relations
  • Develop and maintain automated data pipelines, relational and multidimensional data models
  • Ensure that applications are following best data engineering practices
  • Design and develop analytical data solutions and efficient data visualizations leveraging business intelligence tools (i.e., Power BI) to enable value-add decision making by various business units
  • Collaborate with business partners and technical teams to ensure data accuracy, integrity,
  • consistency, and security
  • Liaise with other business intelligence colleagues, including your manager, to explore new prospective opportunities with data products and services that will benefit the organization
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, redesigning existing reports for greater scalability, etc.
  • Support self-service reporting and resolve issues in a timely fashion towards a stable BI environment
  • Develop and update technical documentation
  • Stay up to date with best data engineering practices
Β Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • 3-7 years of hands-on experience in a data-related role
  • Experience in data modelling, data pipelines and reports development
  • Strong T-SQL skills
  • Solid knowledge of database fundamentals and performance tuning
  • Solid knowledge of relational and dimensional modelling concepts
  • Experience with Microsoft suite – SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI
  • DB2 knowledge an asset
  • Cognos knowledge an asset
  • Understanding of supply chain industry
  • Knowledge in the healthcare industry an asset
  • Experience with various data types and associated lifecycles
  • Knowledge of Azure data services and applications an asset
  • Knowledge of Dynamics and applications an asset
  • Demonstrated and well-developed analysis and analytical skills
