Amazon Fresh Grocery is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) who is passionate about data, analytics, science, and automation. Our team, Retail BI, seeks to Invent & Simplify solutions that increase the speed and quality of decision-making through econometric research and models, business process automation, business analysis and reporting, and cloud computing infrastructure. In this role, you will have the opportunity to touch every aspect of our business from launch strategy to procurement to customer delivery experience.
To be successful in this role, you must have a high capacity to Learn and Be Curious adapting to the latest changes in the business, systems, tools, and techniques for extracting, processing, analyzing, modeling, and taking action on data. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, consistently think in terms of automation, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus to drive strategy in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision. The ideal candidate shows good judgment in making technical trade-offs between short term and long term business needs and demonstrate the ability to drive issues to completion.
As a BIE on our team you will focus on exciting and challenging problems, including:
Apply your deep analytic and business intelligence skill to extract meaningful insight from large and complicated data sets
Engage business stakeholders in constructive dialogues to convert business problems into logic problems that can be solved with data, statistics, and/or scripting
Design, develop, and implement scalable, automated infrastructure for data extraction, processing, computation, and delivery
Support fellow engineers and scientists to deliver analytical projects and build proof of concept applications
Work closely with data engineering, product management, and business stakeholders to deliver features to customers
Learn new technology and techniques such that you can meaningfully support product and process innovation
Help drive new initiatives and data integration projects
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience writing complex SQL queries
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
