Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Data Analyst. The Clinical Research Data Analyst will directly support a busy and high-performing research program by working both independently and as part of a team on clinical data analysis. The Data Analyst will assist and work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Robert Wong. The Data Analyst will also take lead on developing research ideas and support research grant developments that are aligned with the clinical research focus on the current team. The research projects focus on understanding epidemiology and outcomes in patients with chronic liver diseases, with a focus on understanding healthcare disparities.
This position is a full-time, 40 hour/week position.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with large datasets, including VA corporate data warehouse.
- Develop and update study analysis plans for research projects
- Create data cohort, data curation, acquisition, and data cleaning.
- Perform statistical analyses of large datasets (including VA electronic health records) for health outcomes and health services research questions.
- Identify, validate, and resolve database and analysis issues.
- Propose and perform appropriate statistical analysis methods to answer clinical and research questions.
- Incorporate advanced statistical methods (e.g. propensity score matching, inverse probability weighting) when appropriate for analysis of observational data
- Develop and propose new research ideas that are aligned with the current focus of the research team
- Help support development of research grant opportunities
- Take lead as primary author on at least 2 projects
- Maintain regular check-in meetings with PI and/or research team via virtual format, or when necessary, in person.
