Action Lab, EdPlus at ASU seeks a motivated and skilled Data Analyst to join our high-performingΒ interdisciplinary research team. Action Lab is a learning laboratory inside EdPlus that providesΒ data-driven strategies and research findings that enhance our learning and transformational projectΒ Β portfolios and make changes at ASU with data. With an emphasis on online learning, our predictive andΒ evaluative analyses support student success and persistence from curiosity to graduation. Action LabΒ works on transformational projects that aim to increase the reach, breadth, and scale of learningΒ through research committed to improving equity, inclusivity, and the quality of education for learners
everywhere. Our research is actionable and operationally oriented, and we support and coordinate withΒ high-level university stakeholders to improve student learning, motivation, and persistence and toΒ increase equity across the university. We are a fast-paced unit that gets stuff done and makes aΒ difference in the lives of our ASU students to drive change and bolster successes grounded in data andΒ research.
This position will directly contribute to the scholarly research and general data analysis for Study Hall, an
innovative, highly visible, enterprise-level project. Study Hall is an expanding collaboration with
Complexly (the creators of CrashCourse) and YouTube helps students navigate the complex world of
college and learn the concepts and skills needed to gain access and succeed in college. Study Hall focuses
on designing and delivering digital teaching resources to increase student success and reduce barriers to
achievement in higher education. Study Hall promotes the scale of learning and is committed to
improving equity, inclusivity, and the quality of education for learners everywhere. We are seeking a
researcher who will be resourceful and demonstrate excellent time management, a willingness to
collaborate and learn new things, and the patience to succeed.
Action Lab is a matrixed organization, which means that depending on a given project or a project phase,
a researcher may report through different work streams. While this position will officially report to the
Portfolio Manager for Research who oversees the Study research product streams, this researcher will
work closely with other researchers and leadership who contribute to Study Hallβs scholarly research
efforts. As an integral component of the Study Hall research team, this researcher will work
collaboratively with other Action Lab researchers, staff, and faculty to co-manage the Study Hall
quantitative research protocols and to analyze, coordinate, and maintain research information.
The ideal candidate for this position will bring strong skills in quantitative data management, statistical
analysis, and modeling, and a strong knowledge of research methodologies and applications in higher
education. To be successful in this position, this researcher will suggest and align quantitativeΒ methodologies with broader research goals; accurately and efficiently extract, clean, transform, andΒ analyze data; and identify trends and patterns in the data.
Knowledge of and proficiency in using R to manage data, conduct descriptive and inferential analyses,Β and model data is required. General or basic SQL skills are required.

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
EdPlus at ASU supports flexible work options, ranging from alternate work schedules to hybrid remote work schedules, subject to approvals per ASU policy. (This is not a fully remote position.)
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field AND two (2) years previous software support experience; OR,Β Any combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
