The role of the Continuous Improvement Transportation Analyst is to provide analytical support to the Drayage Manager, Outbound Transportation Manager and Ocean Freight Manager on process innovation automation, improvement initiatives, improving productivity, and driving loss elimination across Transportation, Outbound trucking, Drayage and Ocean department.  This role will analyze data to support continuous improvement, reduced costs, cost avoidance and overall business improvement initiatives in our transportation operations.

Job Description

  • Support strategic productivity initiatives and provide all support function activity including accuracy and timeliness of data processing, reporting analysis, project and cost saving data analysis, P&L analysis, budget, and audit analysis to Outbound Transportation manager, Drayage manager, Ocean managers and Director of Transportation
  • Provide analytical support to the Outbound Transportation Manager on outbound transportation process improvement and/or cost saving projects, OTIF and monthly accrual and P&L analysis
  • Provide analytical support to the Drayage Manager on drayage process improvement and/or cost saving projects, carrier on time performance, lead-time, dwell time and monthly accrual and P&L analysis
  • Provide analytical support to the Ocean Freight Manager on ocean process improvement and/or cost saving projects, carrier on time performance, lead-time, dwell time and monthly accrual and P&L analysis
  • Identify through cost analysis the lowest cost accessorial option from port of departure to 3PL and implement
  • Preparing cost-benefit analysis reports for review by Ocean, Drayage and Outbound Transportation managers and director of Transportation and Ocean Freight
  • Provide analytical support to the Corporate Global Sourcing Team, Drayage manager, Outbound Transportation Manager and Ocean Freight Manager regards RFP and freight negotiation contracts with selected vendors and suppliers
  • Provide analytical support to the internal departments and cross-functional teams including outbound trucking, drayage, ocean, distribution, customer service, planning teams, finance and external department including trucking and drayage vendors & 3PLs regarding project implementation and process improvement
  • Champion WOW, the company's continuous improvement program
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Engineering or related field preferably
  • Minimum of 1-2 years work experience in transportation and/or supply chain preferred
  • Experience in global business settings with proven ability to analyze cross-functional projects preferred
  • Ability to handle repeatable analysis and tasks driving continuous cost and service improvement by recommending and implementing stated improvements
  • High level of proficiency in data analysis tools and software  such as Excel, Power Point, MS Outlook, Power BI, Office Suite
  • Experience with ERP system (Oracle), freight & analytics tool (DAT) & supply chain visibility Platform (FourKites) preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical skills with proven data visualization skills
  • Knowledge in applying continuous improvement techniques and analytical tools such as Lean and Six Sigma (DMAIC) to achieve improved business results (Six Sigma Green Belt preferred but not required) preferred
  • Self-motivated, high-energy individual who can function in a high demand, performance-driven environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills
