Data Analyst & Researcher at Family Empowerment Media
Remote — full-time
FEM's Research team conducts the rigorous evidence reviews and analyses that drive our expansion decisions, radio campaign design, and impact estimation. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role spanning quantitative research design, cost-effectiveness modeling, supply chain and access analysis, and field research implementation across multiple countries. You'll work directly with program management to turn real-world data into decisions that determine where and how FEM operates. This role is for someone who is multifaceted, has strong time management and prioritisation skills, and who enjoys working with evidence and ambiguity to solve complex problems analytically. In a given month you might be building a cost-effectiveness model with stock-out simulations, designing and conducting survey sampling, assessing of supply landscapes, and reviewing and updating methodology, often for three or more countries in parallel. What You'll Do Cost-Effectiveness & Configuration Modeling Maintain and update FEM's core impact and cost-effectiveness models to support operational decisions as well as quarterly and year-end reporting on cost-effectiveness and impact estimates Conduct radio station selection and configuration analysis for active and prospective projects Produce and substantiate historical vs. updated reach and impact estimates (e.g., reconciling changes to headline reach figures) Supply & Access Analysis Build and maintain supply dashboards summarizing contraceptive supply conditions Estimate population access to stocked facilities using geospatial methods (e.g., proportion of women of reproductive age within a set radius of supply points) Synthesize supply data to inform decisions on proof-of-concept expansion into new countries Research Design & Analysis Design sampling strategies for formative research surveys (e.g., survey sampling, regional stratification) and adapt approaches as new information (e.g., from implementing partners) arrives Develop and refine survey instruments (quantitative and qualitative), integrate stakeholder feedback, and manage SurveyCTO form updates Draft IRB applications and supporting field research documentation (data request letters, credential support letters, guiding questions) Conduct analysis on survey results; build and maintain data pipelines and dashboards (e.g., Streamlit apps) for formative research and pulse-check survey data, with attention to PII security, scalability, and reproducibility Maintain internal methodology documentation so formative research and analysis can be conducted consistently Comparative & Cross-Country AnalysisSystematically compare countries across supply indicators, cost-effectiveness, health burden, and operational feasibility, adjusting for differences in data quality and availability Maintain and refresh country scoping and selection criteria (e.g., TFR thresholds, population filters) Communication & Translation Translate technical/statistical findings into clear outputs fo
