Purpose
 

As a Data Specialist, Functional Lead you will work with the lead developer to assess and size requirements and design solutions using the available tools in GFRT. The candidate is expected to get involved in automation of QA processes, help build reconciliation and assist production support team with additional analysis. A candidate will assist with new business initiatives, delivering solutions to meet the needs of multiple lines of business and work on constantly evolving regulatory projects. The individual must thrive on challenge, be proactive, and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn.


What You’ll Do 

 

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Design and develop Regulatory reporting for Finance/US FBO Team
  • Support production issues from a data quality standpoint during both Finance and Risk Regulatory reporting cycle
  • Assist developers and BA with release packages, coordinate with production support team.
  • Design and develop automation workflows
  • New data pipeline integration
  • Effectively facilitate SDLC across the specification, design, build, test, and deployment phases of development.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring 

 

  • Minimum of three to five years of relevant experience developer roles
  • Excellent SQL/PLSQL programming skills
  • Experience with Python and Java programming languages
  • Experience with automation tool such as Autosys
  • Experience with shell scripting (Unix/Linux)
  • Experience with JIRA boards
  • Axiom controller view knowledge is good to have
  • ETL tool (Datastage/Talend) is a good to have
  • Excellent English (oral & written) communication skills and interpersonal skills required as direct interfacing with other developers and customers expected
  • University or College degree in related fields
