Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.  

With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social, and economic best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville.  

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Financial Analyst to support our Finance team.  

Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) plays a key role in supporting the organization’s financial decision-making through financial analysis and reporting. The SFA reports to the Manager, Compliance and Revenue Management. This position is responsible for preparing financial analysis and reporting while leveraging technical expertise and strong critical thinking skills. The SFA works closely within and outside of their direct team on processes and initiatives that drive organizational success. The SFA also acts as an informal leader within the Finance team to provide guidance and oversight to their colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and reliable financial information or other deliverables on a recurring basis.
• Account reconciliation such as accounts receivable, accounts payable and others.
• Liaise with external stakeholders (e.g. vendors and members) in ensuring quality and accurate data inputs.
• Perform detailed financial analysis to support operational decision-making, including financial performance, trends and variance analysis.
• Identify issues, analyze, problem solve and provide recommendation for process improvements.
• Leverage technology and tools in the digital transformation of existing processes.
• Collaborate with various departments in understanding business problems and assist in delivering a solution.
• Support ad-hoc analysis requests and projects.

Qualifications and Skills

• University or College degree in Finance, Accounting, or related business field.
• 4-6 years of work experience in accounting or financial analysis environment.
• Existing or working towards a professional accounting designation of CPA or MBA.
• Ability to work independently when required as well as provide guidance to other colleagues.
• Proficiency in Excel working with large datasets (pivot tables, advanced formulas).
• Detail-oriented in preparation, analysis and review of financial information.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate financial information to insights.
• Highly adaptable to changes in urgency, timelines and/ or priorities that meet current business needs.
• Strong communication skills in both verbal and written to management as the intended audience.
• Strong leadership, teamwork and collaborative skills to support effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with advanced Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Power Query, Power BI) is an asset.

Travel

• Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
