Job Summary
The Financial Analyst is an integral role within the Corporate Finance Group, and is responsible for supporting the quarterly financial close process and reporting for the Insurance Segment. This role is critical in supporting the growing operations within Arch and the strategic plan for the Corporate Finance department. This includes preparation of various accounting entries, financial schedules and reports.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Prepare various quarterly financial reporting schedules and variance analysisΒ Β
Coordinate with worldwide insurance segment teams to produce quarterly reports and management discussion and analysis report (MD&A)
Prepare various quarterly close activities including journal entries for Deferred Acquisition Costs (DAC)
Work closely with key business partners to facilitate an efficient quarterly close to meet reporting deadlines
Support ad-hoc requests for financial information from various corporate and business partners
Support adherence to internal controls and applied awareness of risk areas
Assist with fulfilling and responding to external audit requests
Other duties, as requested
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skillsΒ
Knowledge of GAAP and financial statement analysis
High attention to detail, a desire for accuracy, and a strong sense of urgency are a must
Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented, analytical and able to multi-task under tight time frames
Proven ability to analyze data and the underlying drivers of financial results
Knowledge of property and casualty insurance operationsβ―Β
Inclination to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel with ability to use complex formulas to manipulate data, by sorting, filtering including pivot tables, and functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF, SUMPRODUCT, and what-if scenarios
Desired Skills and Abilities
Experience in public company financial reporting
Experience with Cognos, TM1, Great Plains, Workday or Onestream
Experience and Education
Bachelorβs Degree in Accounting or Finance
Professional designation (e.g. CPA) beneficial, not required
3+ years of accounting, finance or financial reporting experience, preferably in the property & casualty insurance industry

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$79,900 - $107,900/year
Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. Β The above range may be modified in the future
