Position Summary
The role acts as a financial advisor and business partner to the marketing and administration teams, in particular the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Chief Administration Officer (CAO), by giving recommendations to enable and drive fact-based decision-making, best practice sharing and continuous process improvement. The position works closely with various departments such as Marketing, Sales, Category Management, Operations, and Innovation, providing leadership and assistance with all aspects of forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning. The role will assist with marketing investment decisions by providing accurate and in-depth financial analysis and will ensure integrity and transparency of performance measurement against plan to assure financial targets are achieved.
Working closely with the Marketing and HR leadership teams, the Financial Analyst, Marketing & SG&A will develop trusted business partner relationships and regularly present to and interact with the CMO and CAO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Financial Planning and Forecasting: Partner with marketing and admin leadership to develop and manage the annual, monthly, and quarterly budget, including forecasts and expense planning. Assist in installation of systems/processes that simplify budget management for all stakeholders and plug into company operating systems.
- Create monthly rolling forecasts by segment and brand to update the company on expected performance, in partnership with sales finance.
- Selling, General, and Administrative Expenses (SG&A) Controlling, including Marketing Working Budget (MWB) and Corporate Overheads
- Performance Management: Analyze deviations from budget and forecast, investigating the reasons behind the variances and proposing corrective actions.
- Partner with marketing leadership to define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track the financial and operational performance of the brands and segments
- Prepare regular accurate and timely financial reports and dashboards for senior management, highlighting key insights and actionable recommendations.
- Analyze the profitability of different products, channels, and customer segments, recommending actions to improve margins.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to developing long-term financial models and strategic plans that align with the company's goals and market trends. Conduct financial modeling to simulate different business scenarios and assess their financial impact.
- Assess the financial viability of new projects, product launches, and other strategic initiatives including P&L development for innovation.
- Conduct ad hoc complex and comprehensive financial analyses to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Drive development of short- and long-term financial plans, budgeting, forecasting, expense controlling and ad hoc analysis for strategic as well as short-term management of the business.
- Coordinate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate monthly close.
- Cross-functional collaboration with other key business stakeholders to ensure the companyβs financial targets are managed accordingly and to improve overall company financial and operations performance.
- Identify & propose new strategies and processes for driving the profitability and efficiency of the area of responsibility through own expertise.
- Drive strategic initiatives across the organization, and lead key projects to ensure consistency, efficiency and target achievement within the organization.
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the company's financial health.
- Develop and promote financial best practices within the organization. Ensure adherence to financial regulations, internal controls, and company policies.
- Drive Process Improvement through system enhancements: Implement and optimize financial planning and reporting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensures financial but also non-financial managers are provided top notch and highly accurate information and analysis for their business decisions.
- Perform other duties as the role and business requirements develop.
Job Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business. Bachelorβs degree required, Masterβs degree preferred.
- 3-5 yearsβ experience in financial planning or analysis with progressive responsibility. Heavy emphasis on marketing or commercial finance functions and forecast process/best practice. CPG industry experience is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software. Strong knowledge of Business Intelligence and Reporting systems. Excellent knowledge in Finance and/or Accounting and high level understanding and experience with marketing financial drivers.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills in English required. Spanish a plus.
- An integrating personality adept to work and communicate effectively cross functionally within the business across all levels of the Organization, with a high degree of stakeholder orientation.
- Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex data from multiple sources and develop demand-driven and action-based reporting and analysis, as well as creative and innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior executives, stakeholders, cross functional business leaders, peers, clients, and customers.
- Must be agile and quick to respond to changes and the needs of Team Members and/or the organization.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a high level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
