Title: Institutional Research Data Analyst

Reports to: Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

Job Status: Non-exempt

Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

Position Summary: The Institutional Research Data Analyst is a full-time position that works as part of a small team to compile and analyze data for the University's programs of institutional research, institutional effectiveness, and external reporting. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, this position collaborates with university constituents to verify the accurate collection of data, to analyze trends, and to develop data visualizations. The position also assists with fulfilling external reporting requirements, responding to ad hoc data requests, and performing various quantitative analyses.

Job Responsibilities

  • Compiles, reviews, and submits data required by external reporting authorities (IPEDS, ICUT, BGCT, THECB, NCAA, etc.)
  • Provides information and analyses to support University initiatives in enrollment, retention, compliance (SACSCOC, NCAA, etc.), and other areas
  • Maintains the University enrollment and scholarship models
  • Maintains longitudinal data for reporting
  • Responds to ad hoc requests for information from internal and external constituents
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key internal and external constituents
  • Develops procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy of data
  • Remains aware of current trends and best practices in institutional research
  • Maintains and updates the departmental web site
  • Produces high-quality reports, studies, slide decks, and data visualizations, including the development and maintenance of dashboards for commonly-requested data
  • Maintains and updates SAS Software installation
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, masterοΏ½s degree preferred; two years of experience in institutional research preferred, preferably at a private university. At least one year of SAS (or other) programming experience required (SAS Programming certification preferred). The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully handle this position.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.); advanced Excel skills required
  • Working knowledge of Banner preferred
  • Proficient with SAS Software (Base, Macro, SQL) οΏ½ SAS Programming certification preferred
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI) and reporting automation tools (Argos)
  • Proven statistical analysis skills
  • Ability to multi-task and exercise judgment to plan, prioritize, and execute workload, particularly during peak periods
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to convey complex data in an organized and easily understandable manner
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws such as FERPA, GDPR, or other relevant regulations
  • Commitment to customer service
