This role provides a critical contribution to cancer care by managing and analyzing oncology data to support clinical, regulatory, and quality initiatives. The Oncology Data Specialist will ensure accurate case finding, data abstraction, and follow-up for patients diagnosed and treated with cancer, maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and regulations. The position is remote but requires residency in KY or IN. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clinical teams, ensuring data integrity and completeness while supporting improvements in patient outcomes and reporting processes. This role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who are passionate about oncology, data quality, and contributing to patient-centered care.
Accountabilities
- Identify and capture reportable cancer cases from multiple data sources accurately.
- Abstract relevant clinical information completely and in accordance with established guidelines.
- Obtain and verify treatment data from primary sources to ensure data accuracy.
- Conduct patient follow-up activities to maintain up-to-date records.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support oncology data reporting and improvement initiatives.
Requirements - Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related allied health field.
- Experience in oncology data services is preferred.
- Successful completion of Anatomy & Physiology courses.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
