Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In this role you will be:

  • Using analytical and problem-solving skills, clinical skills and experience, and IT knowledge to provide information support and recommendations for improving clinical processes and data reporting for perioperative services within the hospital.
  • Preparing reports that include, but are not limited to, prime time utilization, block time utilization, patient satisfaction data, turnover time management, productivity, value analysis, financial service line cost/reimbursement, and capital equipment.
  • Assisting in promoting clinical initiatives and their integration into clinical practice.
  • Conferring with department managers to determine information technology needs, reporting needs, data collection, and billing needs for surgical services and anesthesia, and documenting those needs.
  • Helping prepare IT solutions, reports, and plans.
  • Pulling data and maintaining up-to-date status reports regarding initiatives and issues, highlighting areas of concern for management follow-up.
  • Assisting in preparing project plans, maintaining project status, and completing assignments in fulfillment of project and support requirements in a timely and professional manner.
  • Keeping current with principles and practices, technology, regulations, and standards that apply to healthcare information technology for surgical services and anesthesia.
  • Able to meet deadlines, be accurate, and handle constantly changing situations and demonstrates the ability to work with a variety people.
  • Able to manage stressful situations and handle conflict.
  • Performing high levels of data mining, reorganization, and analysis to be used for decision-making processes.
  • Preparing reports and collaborating with the Surgical Service Director to prepare for unit meetings, department report outs, and quality indicators relevant to surgical service.
  • Supporting data gathering that complies with the organization’s goals and strategies to aid in preparation for annual budget and work planning.
  • Assisting in feasibility studies and cost analysis of new service lines, project assessments, and evaluations to determine technology needs.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of current software systems, operation procedures, and technologic developments.
  • Participating in department financial performance and collaborating with surgical service and anesthesia.
  • Providing cost savings initiatives and service line cost per case management based on data available for supply cost and reimbursement.
  • Participating in value analysis team for new product requests with data to support the need to include projected volume and potential revenue.
  • Assisting with departmental purchasing records, inventory control logs, time sheets, schedules, and documents related to departmental operations.
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times, and maintaining CMS, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Attending department staff meetings as required.
  • Coordinating efforts in meeting accrediting agency, federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
  • Utilizing excellent interpersonal communication, customer service, and presentation skills.
  • Developing thorough knowledge of all aspects of clinical computer electronic health records, surgical procedures, system analysis, and equipment.

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required, registered nurse degree highly desired
  • EXPERIENCE:
    • 2 years experience in clinical healthcare setting
    • Proficiency in Excel programs and Cerner/Surginet platform required
    • Healthcare IT industry experience including healthcare function workflow and industry best practice
