AWS is looking for a Principal Business Intelligence Engineer to join the AWS Analytics Engineering (AAE) team. This is your opportunity to be part of a team that has direct impact on foundational cloud services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon Q Developer, Serverless, Databases, Networking and many more.

As a Principal Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying complex business problems and decomposing them into data questions and designing frameworks and metrics to provide solutions to business stakeowners. You will define and drive comprehensive data strategies that enable informed decision-making for leaders across the organization. Your role involves developing analytical infrastructures and transforming raw facts into meaningful insights that drive business outcomes. You will need to understand the broader BI ecosystem, including how data is generated, transformed into metrics, and how reporting and analysis are built to create actionable insights


You will be responsible to create data driven analysis artifacts presented to executive leadership on a regular basis. You will generate insights that directly drive business growth and influence feature and product enhancements. You will get to work with datasets in one of the world's largest data warehousing environments, giving you opportunity to develop and support your hypotheses with data-driven insights and influence product leadership. You will work closely with senior business leaders, finance, and technical teams to analyze many non-standard and unique business problems, creatively problem-solving to deliver actionable output. As you build your service's analytical capabilities, you will be redefining best practices with a cloud-based approach to scalability and automation.

Key job responsibilities
- Set the standard for BI engineering excellence delivering exemplary solutions that are efficient, stable, extensible, and able to evolve over time.
- Define and drive the overall analytics strategy , ensuring alignment with the broader data architecture and business objectives.
- Design and implement of robust data models to automate generation of data driven actionable insights across multitude of AWS services.
- Research on global economic trends and quantify impact growth of AWS services.
- Simplify and improve existing BI solutions, models, and processes, maximizing their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Tackle complex, ambiguous problems, leveraging your expertise to invent innovative solutions that drive significant business impact.
- Amplify your impact by leading design reviews, probing assumptions, aligning teams, and educating the engineering community on advanced BI technologies and trends.
- Serve as a mentor and career advisor, helping managers understand data roles and guide the professional growth of their team members.

About the team
The AWS Analytics Engineering organization supports over 175+ AWS services and products with comprehensive analytics solutions. AAE's primary mission is to empower stakeholders to make data-driven business decisions by providing analytical frameworks, ML products, daily reports, WBRs, analyses/narratives, and self-serve datasets. AAE comprises of cross functional engineers from data and analytics domain and focus on creating information rich datasets with goal to reduce stakeholders' time spent on redundant data gathering tasks and provide fast, easy access to valuable data insight



- Bachelor's/Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience working directly with product and engineering teams.
- 5+ years of experience working with structured/unstructured data sets to perform complex analysis and present documented findings to senior leadership.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills with ability to present complex information clearly to various audience including executive leadership.
- Exceptional technical skills, including expertise in data modeling, SQL, Python, data visualization (e.g. Tableau, QuickSight).
- Experience working with GenAI applications to automate extraction of insights from PB scale data sets.
- Experience leading design reviews and driving consensus among diverse stakeholders.
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition.

- Hands-on experience with AWS technology stack and cloud software services.
- Experience with large-scale data science and analytics projects.
- Ability to drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $241,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
