Summary:


 


The Enterprise Data organization at The Hershey Company delivers high-quality, well-governed data, empowering the entire organization with analytics and informed decision-making.


 


The Sr. Data Visualization Engineer will be part of an agile execution team, working with Hershey business partners, data scientists, technical engineers, data architects, and project managers to design, develop, and grow the data visualization, reporting, and analytical solutions. This role will also ensure visualization standards adhere to company best practices and help deliver rapid, impactful benefits.


 


The Sr. Data Visualization Engineer will act as a trusted advisor for Hershey's business partners by ensuring that data solutions meet expectations and requirements. You will work with a diverse team of business analysts, data scientists, technical engineers, data architects, and project managers to deliver outcomes aligned with our business partner’s strategy. In addition, you will work directly with the Sr. Manager Data Visualization to ensure consistency and compliance of deliverables to frameworks and governance processes.


 


Major Duties/Responsibilities


 


Data Visualization Engineering Solution Delivery: 


Develop and deliver high-quality data visualization, reporting, and analytical solutions - adhering to best practice, privacy, and governance principles


 


Data Visualization Maintenance/Optimization:


Work on existing solutions to enhance their performance, quality, and/or functionality.  Resolve incidents escalated by support teams or business users.


 


Data Visualization Engineering Domain:


Collaborate with IT and business partners to define, manage, and deliver innovative Data Visualization solutions to drive growth and adoption of capabilities at Hershey.


 


Data Visualization Engineering Advocacy:


Evangelize future Data Visualization solutions identified by Enterprise Data leadership, including innovations such as cloud-based intelligent systems to collect, distribute, model, analyze, and visualize disparate/diverse data assets of all sizes.


 


Specific Job Responsibilities:


 



  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

  • Lead the creation of intuitive data semantic models, visualizations, and dashboards for business stakeholders.

  • Integrate data from disparate sources, ensuring data consistency and integrity.

  • Develop complex analytical solutions while maintaining the output performance.

  • Ensure the operations of the reporting and analytical platforms meet Service Level Agreements.

  • Maintain the performance and optimization of semantic models and analytical solutions.

  • Establish and enforce data quality standards and governance policies.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data issues, ensuring high data accuracy and reliability.

  • Implement data modeling and schema design to support analytical and reporting needs.

  • Develop, implement, and enforce best practices and guiding principles for data modeling and analytics.

  • Ensure all data modeling processes and solutions adhere to industry standards and organizational policies.

  • Mentor and guide junior members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Lead technical projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.


 


 


 


 


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities: 



  • Experience designing and developing data modeling, visualization, reporting, and analytical solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of relational, dimensional, and semantic data modeling.

  • Proficiency in methodologies such as star schema, snowflake schema, and semantic models.

  • Expertise in data visualization, dashboard design, and reporting.

  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and team collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and produce quality results under pressure.

  • Strong team player, change agent and advocate.

  • Working knowledge of agile frameworks

  • High energy self-starter

  • Expertise in data visualization, dashboard design, and reporting.


 


 


 


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 


 


 



  • Bachelor’s in a STEM degree

  • Master’s degree and/or related equivalent experience preferred


 


 


Experience:


 


 



  • 5+ years of experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, much of which has been focused on working with cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide data management programs

  • 3+ Experience working with Alteryx or similar data wrangling tool for data modeling, data mining, forecasting, simulation

  • 3+ years of developing and maintaining the reporting ecosystem, ensuring service level agreements and data quality

  • 3+ years building analytical models

  • 3+ years of experience working with business owners to maintain and optimize key performance indicators within data and analytical solutions

  • 3+ years of experience with DAX, Tabular Editor, ALM Toolkit, and Power BI Deployment Pipelines.

  • Ability to speak to the visualization tools and discuss tradeoffs between their functionalities

  • Knowledge and experience in working with relational/non-relational databases e.g., Teradata, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data solutions, or Hadoop

  • Experience working in a high performing agile delivery model, aligning with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and other execution team members to deliver rapid and impactful solutions that align with business partner strategy

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical partners
