Job Description:
Our Opportunity
At Chewy, we're looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer II to help our Customer Care team turn data into better experiences for customers, pets, and the team members who support them.
In this role, you'll own analytics solutions from business requirements through deployment and adoption. You'll combine strong SQL and Python skills with modern visualization tools and AI-assisted workflows to build trusted data products, automate reporting, and make insights more accessible. You'll also help stakeholders understand what drives customer contacts, service performance, and customer satisfaction - and identify opportunities to improve them.
This role is ideal for someone who brings technical depth, sound analytical judgment, and curiosity about applying AI to everyday business problems.
What You'll Do
- Own analytics solutions end to end. Translate business questions into clear requirements, define success measures, and independently deliver reliable datasets, dashboards, and analytical tools.
- Build trusted data foundations. Write and optimize complex SQL queries, develop reusable data models, and use Python to extract, clean, integrate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
- Develop scalable reporting and monitoring. Work with batch and streaming data, where appropriate, to support timely reporting, anomaly detection, and operational alerts.
- Create intuitive analytics experiences. Build and maintain dashboards and applications using tools such as Tableau, Streamlit, and Plotly, helping users move from identifying an issue to understanding its drivers.
- Apply AI to improve analytics productivity. Use approved AI tools to accelerate SQL and Python development, exploratory analysis, documentation, and prototyping. Validate generated outputs for accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with business definitions.
- Turn unstructured feedback into measurable insights. Partner with relevant teams to apply AI-assisted classification, summarization, and text analysis to customer interactions, identifying emerging themes and validating findings against source data.
- Build and evaluate AI-enabled self-service tools. Contribute to experiences such as natural-language data exploration and automated insight summaries, grounded in governed data and clearly defined metrics.
- Measure business impact. Use statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and appropriate evaluation methods to assess operational changes, automation, and AI-enabled Customer Care initiatives.
- Ensure quality, explainability, and responsible use. Implement data checks, investigate discrepancies, and communicate assumptions and limitations. Follow Chewy's policies for privacy, security, and the use of customer data with AI tools
