new Senior Data Analyst at me
Washington, DC — full-time
📊 The National Education Association is hiring a new Senior Data Analyst — come support public education, labor, and progressive causes by creating cool dashboards and (lovingly) agonizing over single-pixel spacing differences with me! The official posting is linked at the bottom. We were limited to a somewhat generic description so, if you’re interested, please read both the official posting as well as the details below. Questions? Send them super-recruiter Talia Borodin's way! Technical Requirements • Advanced proficiency querying and manipulating large relational datasets using R, SQL, and/or Python. • Significant experience with dashboard development in Tableau (preferred) or a comparable platform such as Power BI or Looker. Applicants with strong data visualization experience but little dashboarding experience may also be considered • Skilled at structuring data at the right level of detail for each report, balancing drill-down capability with performance. • Exceptional attention to detail and disciplined QA practices, including reconciling outputs to source data and testing transformation logic. • An eye for building accessible, attractive, and actionable dashboards that leverage data visualization best practices. Role Focus • Build, optimize, and maintain dashboards that make key insights immediately visible and actionable to both technical and non-technical users, across a variety of operational and program areas. Lead projects end to end, from stakeholder requirements and scoping through data preparation, validation, publication, and user training and support. • Adapt your analytical approach as findings emerge, recognizing when the data warrants a change in direction and reprioritizing work accordingly. • Collaborate closely with a fellow senior analyst: sharing approaches, reviewing each other’s work, and providing mutual support across projects. This hybrid position reports directly to the IT Director and requires four days per month in the office at NEA headquarters in Washington, DC (typically Thursdays). We value demonstrated skill and, importantly, the ability to quickly and independently acquire new skills, over credentials. Candidates with substantial, relevant hands-on experience are encouraged to apply regardless of formal education. Applicants are encouraged to submit a link to a portfolio if available.
