About the Division of Child and Family Well-Being:
At NC DHHS the Division of Child and Family Well-Being (DCFW) focuses on supporting whole child and family health and well-being for North Carolinians. DCFW works to ensure that North Carolina’s children grow up safe, healthy and thriving in nurturing and resilient families and communities. DCFW has complementary Public Health and Mental health programming that maximize services and outcomes for children and their families, including nutrition programs (SNAP, WIC and Child and Adult Care Food Program), health and prevention services for children and youth, children’s behavioral health services, and early intervention programs.

The Whole Child Health Section Data Analyst will provide professional and analytical consultative work with all Units in the Section on program planning and evaluation. This will include: child and adolescent health data collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination. This position serves as a consultant for Section program planning, selecting or creating analytical tools and evaluation of the Section’s programs. The consultant in this position will be expected to collaborate with other sections of the Division of Child and Family Well-Being in evaluation activities and to be a member of the Division of Public Health’s Epidemiology and Evaluation Team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Knowledge of evaluation study design; analytical consultation; statistics; data analysis’ surveillance database management; program planning and evaluation.
  • Skills in using a variety of software programs, designed for database management and data collection such as Excel and Access, an online survey software such as Alchemer.
  • Design and conduct evaluation studies or surveys and to perform statistical analyses; analyze and interpret evaluation data; determine the reliability of results.
  • Work with others to develop plans and programs to improve child health; communicate clearly in written and oral form with health professionals and the public.

Management Preferences:

  • Demonstrated leadership, consultation and technical assistance experience in a public health or related setting.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in the program related to the area of assignment;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
