Job Description
Job Purpose: To provide students with academic (coaching) support necessary for students to successfully navigate their college experience. Assess and analyze departmental data to enhance the university retention and persistence rate. Accountability: The Academic Coach/Data Specialist will report to the Director of Retention and Student Success. General Statement of Duties: The Academic Coach/Data Specialist will be responsible for managing a caseload of students to increase successful academic outcomes, schedule tutoring sessions, provide academic enhancement workshops, and monitor and assess retention data. Essential Job Functions: 路 Assist students with goals and identifying, planning for, and overcoming potential academic obstacles; build rapport and trust with students to support successful class completion; monitor student progress toward goals; and conduct follow-up with students who have been identified as high-risk 路 Provide Academic Coaching to students who are considered as high risk 路 Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of academic enrichment workshops and life skills workshops for academic support 路 Aids students and instructors to problem-solve issues that arise related to progress toward academic goals, persistence, and attendance 路 Collect, analyze, and interpret retention data to assess the effectiveness of retention initiatives and identify areas of improvement 路 Establish metrics to effectively assess retention effects 路 Prepare regular reports on retention metrics, trends, and outcomes 路 Performs all other relevant duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
路 Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills with the ability to relate effectively with others at different levels including students and colleagues in other areas of education administration 路 Ability to adapt to change and learn and apply new information at a rapid pace. 路 Excellent Communication Skills (oral and in writing) 路 Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively 路 Excellent computer skills with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 路 Bachelor鈥檚 Degree Required 路 Previous experience in higher education 路 Knowledge of or experience compiling and assessing statistical data
