The Business Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between the Enterprise Applications & Development (EA&D) team and the business by using data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements, and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to executives and stakeholders. The BA ensures that the organization's business needs are clearly understood, documented, and communicated effectively across departments, while also overseeing Quality Assurance (QA) activities to ensure that business requirements are fully met in system development and enhancements. This role requires specific experience in the credit union space, expert knowledge of Symitar core processing, and accounting experience to support financial analysis, reporting, and compliance, along with involvement in QA testing processes.

Primary Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering & Analysis:

  • Conduct meetings with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements.
  • Analyze business needs specific to operations (e.g., loan processing, member services) and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within financial and operational workflows, and make recommendations tailored to the credit union environment.
Symitar Expertise:
  • Leverage Symitar experience to customize and optimize the core processing system for accuracy, financial reporting, member service, and operational efficiency.
  • Acts as subject matter expert on accounting, lending, and deposit functions within Symitar and how they integrate with our other systems.
  • Serve as the go-to resource for Symitar functionalities, helping stakeholders understand system capabilities and limitations.
Quality Assurance (QA) & Testing:
  • Develop test plans and strategies to ensure that all business and accounting requirements are accurately reflected in system implementations and upgrades.
  • Coordinate and execute QA testing activities, including functional testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT), particularly for Symitar-related projects.
  • Ensure that system enhancements are tested thoroughly before deployment to prevent defects and ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Document and track defects, collaborating with developers and IT teams to resolve issues before implementation.
  • Facilitate stakeholder involvement in UAT and ensure feedback is captured and addressed prior to project sign-off.
Stakeholder Management:
  • Act as a liaison between credit union departments (e.g., accounting, lending, member services, IT) and external vendors, including Symitar representatives.
  • Facilitate effective communication between business, finance, and technical teams to ensure that credit union needs are understood.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, ensuring alignment on Symitar-related projects and objectives.
Change Management:
  • Help manage the transition to new processes or systems, particularly within Symitar, ensuring a smooth implementation.
  • Coordinate with the Staff Development team to provide training and support to credit union users as new processes and Symitar features are implemented.
  • Monitor the impact of changes on credit union operations and help with ongoing improvements

Knowledge and Skills
  • Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).Β 
  • Hands-on experience with the Symitar core processing system, including system optimization and reporting.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance (QA) processes, including test planning, execution, and defect management
  • Accounting experience, including familiarity with general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close processes preferredΒ 
  • Proficiency in business process modeling, requirements gathering, and data analysis. Experience with SQL, Symitar, and other financial system tools. Familiarity with financial regulations affecting credit unions.

Typical office work environment. Hybrid work schedule may be available upon approval. Remote work schedule may be considered only in CA, NV, MT, TN, HI.Β

Salary Wage will range from mid-point of $102,811.00/year to mid-point of $116,830.00/year. Wages posted are for grade 12 through 13 and will depend on experience.
