JobΒ Purpose: The Finance and Business Office is responsible for the overall integrity of the College's fiscal activities. This office provides timely and accurate financial information to key stakeholders, while protecting College assets, both real and intangible, and ensuring College compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws from a financial and fiduciary vantage point.
The Financial Analyst role will report up to the CFO/ Vice President for Finance and Administration, and will be responsible for the management, execution, and support of several complex strategic and operational financial activities. They will become a key member of our team, and be responsible for analysis of data to be used in budgeting and forecasting.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions
- Assist in preparation and distribution of the annual operating budget.
- Monitors, reviews and analyzes financial results, trends, funding, expenses and reserves, in comparison to budget and forecast, as well as monitors performance against prior years and strategic plans, as applicable.
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations on budget performance and supplemental analyses
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables, such as budget reconciliations, revenue/expense projections, actual versus budgeted expenditures and various analysis.
- Assist in compiling financial information and documentation needed by the College for external reporting.
- Prioritize, identify, and resolve strategic and unit/department issues; recognize exceptions, recommend and develop resolutions and implement solutions.
- Work with various departments to help manage their budgets and prepare all budget reclass journal entries when necessary.
- Analysis of benefits, dining and additional pay expenses in addition to tracking of all full time and open positions.
- Assist with financial and budgetary oversight of the student employment process.
Non-Essential Functions
- Assist with work assignments and special projects within the department as requested
- Serve on improvement committees to best serve the College's needs.
- Interact daily, in-person, via telephone and through e-mail, with College administration and outside agencies, providing assistance and information regarding financial and general inquiry

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, plus 3+ years of relevant experience
- MS in Accounting or MBA, preferred
- Financial experience with an institution of higher education or non-profit organization is highly desirable
Desired Work Traits:
- Experience in Higher Education, a plus
- Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to complete projects timely and accurately
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in Oracle, a plus
Communication/Interpersonal Skills:
- Must exhibit competence with verbal and written communication skills and an ability to maintain effective relationships with various campus departments and outside organizations
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team

Additional Information
In compliance with NYCβs Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $68,000.
