Assessment Data Specialist for the College of Education, Leadership Studies, and Counseling
(CELC)


The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue
Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, is accepting applications for a part-time Assessment Data
Specialist to join the College of Education, Leadership Studies, and Counseling.

Job Purpose:


The Assessment Data Specialist is primarily responsible for effectively managing large amounts
of information. This includes inserting, updating and maintaining accurate program data,
creating and distributing data reports, archiving organizational data and analysis reports, and
completing state and national reports on the results of the data analysis.


Specific Job Duties:

  • Monitor the continuous improvement process of the quality assurance system to
  • provide valid and reliable data and data visualizations for administrators, faculty, and
  • staff to evaluate the effectiveness of CELC related programs.
  • Manage, in collaboration with VEAC and Office of University Data Analytics and
  • Effectiveness (UDAE), the completion of the teacher education program completer and
  • employer surveys, completer verification, data collection, analysis, and reporting of
  • results (VEAC).
  • Work in collaboration with the Office of University Data Analytics and Effectiveness(UDAE) on data quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure that data is routinely and systematically collected, compiled, summarized,analyzed, and reported to faculty, staff, stakeholders, and the university.
  • Effectively handle multiple requests/projects simultaneously and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Provide support with assessment-related and data-related initiatives, including diversity,inclusion, and recruitment initiatives.
  • Experience and proficiency in using data collection, survey tools, and statistical andqualitative analysis programs for reporting and decision support (i.e., Excel, GoogleSheets, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey SPSS, SAS, R, comparable statistical analysis software,etc.).
  • Evidence of long-and short-term planning; strong time management skills; and carefulattention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to independently define problems accurately and concisely, using both quantitative and qualitative methods, develop and execute one or more solutions, andevaluate their effectiveness.
  • Work with the Dean and CELC staff and faculty in preparation for annual and biennialstate approval, national accreditation, and university reporting, as well as for other purposes (e.g., Title II, CAEP, and VDOE reports)
  • Performs any other related duties as may be required

Starting Salary: $21/hr

Β 

Schedule:

20 hours/week flexible work schedule. Some evenings and weekends to meet the
accreditation needs of the college and its programs, may be required.

Experience/Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and have the ability to understand, comprehend and follow directions
  • Familiarity with data entry and management
  • Must have good teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to use the processes, tools and services for managing dataentry, analysis, and reporting results.


Typical Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk with occasional periods of walkingthrough administrative and educational spaces.
  • Frequent use of computer/tablet equipment and the telephone.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in communications, administrative assisting, business, or other related area
  • Previous experience working in the education sector
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work, both independently and collaboratively, as a member of a high-functioning team in a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in operation of office equipment, Microsoft Office, Google applications, andother cloud-based applications


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with technology that supports data management
  • Ability to aggregate and disaggregate data and create meaningful charts and displays

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in communications, administrative assistance, business,
or other related area
