WHAT WE OFFER

We estimate the salary range for this position to be between $75,000 - 85,000 annually. JOB PURPOSE

This person is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all product data in our systems. They ensure that we have full and complete documentation of all of Mustang Survival’s products. They manage changes to these files and ensure that how and where this information is stored is up to date and accurate. This role will work closely with the QA configuration manager to ensure that the plan for data management is being followed and will help support the implementation of a new product lifecycle management (PLM) system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Short Term (6 months to 1 year): The Product Data Specialist plays a key role within the Product Team in evaluating in-line products. They take ownership in modifying and maintaining carry over products specification packages to execute the brand’s re-source and manufacturing strategy. They work through product data from multiple sources and consolidate the information into accurate complete packages. The Product Data Specialist is a key stakeholder in the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process and execution. They work with the Material Team to ensure the accuracy and consolidation of RM data on BOMs. They assist the Product Management & Sourcing Teams in evaluating the viability of source changes and work the Product Development team to execute those moves.

Short Term:

  • Critically evaluate existing product BOMs for accuracy and maintain all BOMs, spec sheets, and other information for carryover products (recreational, military, industrial, and professional β€” hard and soft goods) create complete specification packages.

  • Work closely with the Product Development & Material Teams to maintain material documentation at all stages of the product lifecycle.

  • Coordinate with Product Management & Sourcing Teams for the evaluation and execution of re-source strategies.

  • Facilitate communication between outsource manufacturers for vendor-sourced RMs and the in-house Material Team.

  • Support the materials validation process by facilitating samples and assist in organization of the material library.

  • Work with Product Team and Engineering Team in redefining the ECN process.

Long Term (1 year and beyond): The Product Data Specialist is a knowledge holder on all things product-related and coordinates this information across different cross-functional teams. They identify cost saving product opportunities through consolidation and workmanship to assist the Sourcing Team in price negotiations on existing products. After readying all salient product data they are a key stakeholder in the implementation and maintenance of a new PLM system. The Product Data Specialist owns documentation maintenance and revisions both internally and with our outsource partners. As the knowledge holder on all things product, they play a critical role in the maintenance of the ECN process including identification and implementation.

Long Term:

  • Represent the interests the Product Team in the future implementation of the new PLM system with our Systems Team, ensuring it is fit for use.

  • Prepare BOMs and TDPs for entry into the PLM system.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a master calendar & VCB, applying advanced understanding of timelines, lead times, critical deadlines, and dependencies, particularly for carry-over products and resourcing activities.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Construction Standards Library in collaboration with Design, QA, and other cross-functional partners.

  • Identify and report non-compliance situations when they arise, and support the QA and Material Teams in receiving compliance documentation as necessary.

  • Manage product documentation revisions and ECNs internally and with outsource partners. Continually establish and improve processes as necessary.

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of outdoor gear and apparel industry experience in technical product development.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Apparel Design/Development/Industrial Design or equivalent industry experience. If you are a gear expert this is the job for you, we don’t care where you learnt your skills!

  • Applied/practical experience in leading change management.

  • Applied/practical experience in NETSUITE or cloud-based business management tools or ERP.

  • Applied/practical experience in the implementation, architecture and maintenance of PLM software. Please be aware we do not currently have a PLM but have it slotted for implementation. You will be the driving force on the Product Team to ready all the information for entry and also the advocate for what we need and how it should work.

  • Solid technical knowledge of performance product (gear and apparel) construction and composition.

  • Superior understanding of BOM structures and integrations.

  • Experience with bulk manufacturing of technical products.

  • Expertise in product commercialization in Canada, USA, and/or offshore.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite and/or AutoCad to create/modify technical drawing packages is a plus.
