Job Description
The Prospect Research and Data Specialist will play a crucial role in effectively managing and implementing a comprehensive database that will identify potential donors to many of the university departments; as well as researching donors and prospects; managing the University Advancement database; maintaining accurate records; developing and preparing timely and accurate reports; developing and maintaining a comprehensive program for prospect research; integration of all databases for current and prospective donors; handing prospect research and develop complex profiles such as wealth score algorithms for individuals, businesses, foundation and corporations; ensure data accuracy within prospect research module; organizing, executing and handling prospect tracking and management system to monitor routine research request operations, advise development officers and support strategy meetings; direct prospect research programs, manage production and distribute research reports for identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects; prioritizing projects, determine research strategy and allocate research request; suggesting prospects and handle assignments ad appeal process as per procedures; making corrections and additions to all database records , including some prospect/donor information and contact schedules; provide constituent lists for university departments for various mailings; coordinate data gathering from campus-wide departments or individuals to help update and maintain the data base; complete all constituent data entry and updates; act as Scholarship Coordinator and coordinate with Financial Aid; organizing and integrate all information related to current and prospective donors to MVSU ; the position will involve developing exception reports to ensure accuracy of all constituent information updates; receiving all returned mail and entering or distributing for entry and update as appropriate; running queries to scan database for duplicates and manually deleting or merging duplicated records as appropriate; developing routine data update strategy incorporating research options; updating internal policy and procedural documents as needed to reflect changes in operations; using DonorSearch or similar software platform for prospect research; as well as using internet and other resources for gathering information on personnel changes in government, business, etcβ¦
Required Qualifications
Bachelorβs Degree; advanced degree preferred; BANNER 9 experience is a plus; excellent oral and written communication skills; two years experience in database or project management; excellent interpersonal skill and the ability to relate to Advancement colleagues, donors, volunteers, faculty and staff; as well as have a high level of professionalism, integrity, good judgment, and the ability to work in a team environment.
