Position: Senior Business Analyst

 

Location: Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL

 

 

The Team:

The Hiscox USA Digital Operations and Business Transformation team creates innovative solutions to improve the customer experience and drive digital growth. We are on a journey to optimize our digital platforms while transitioning to an agile, value-stream based delivery model.

 

About You:

You’ll be an experienced Business Analyst who is business savvy and collaborative, someone who enjoys working with Business Sponsors, Product Owners, Architects, Technical BA & Engineers and other stakeholders to plan and execute analysis activities to deliver valuable outcomes for the business. 

You will have 5-8 years’ experience in the Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance industry. This role will be critical in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, with a focus on building configurable applications and managing business rules to enhance operational efficiency and drive innovation.

You will have the opportunity to work on a range of project and value stream outcomes in our Digital Operations and Business Transformation portfolio, giving you broad exposure to how the US business operates, from the front line through to the back-office functions and the technology that supports our ability to deliver superb service to our customers. 

Our projects can be driven by process improvement, integration of new ventures and delivery of regulatory requirements. The outputs of the projects can vary from large scale system delivery and upgrades to smaller, tactical solutions that open up business opportunities.

 

 

What You’ll Do:

 

Requirements Gathering and Analysis:

  • Build a strong understanding of end-to-end user journeys & processes, their supporting technologies

  • Accurately and efficiently elicit, challenge, and document scope, processes & requirements while bringing the end user/s along the change journey

  • Produce high quality business and technical analysis deliverables, including but not limited to, user stories, functional and non-functional specifications, as is’ and ‘to be’ process models

  • Ensure traceability of requirements and user stories throughout the entire change lifecycle

  • Apply BA best practice and insights that challenge the business to think about the “right” solution

Application Development and Configuration:

  • Develop, document and maintain business rules for underwriting and policy management processes

  • Partner with stakeholders to review and update rules to reflect regulatory and market changes

  • Collaborate with IT to implement business rules within configurable insurance systems to ensure seamless integration

 

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration:

  • Build relationships and trust with senior stakeholders, understanding goals, objectives and desired outcomes, and bringing them on the journey of engagement

  • Maintain a close working relationship with partners in Operations, Technology, and the business.

  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and vice versa

 

 

Project Management Support:

  • Support project managers and/or scrum masters in defining BA related project scope, timelines and deliverables

  • Provide detailed documentation and reporting on BA work including risks and issues

  • Assist with user training, change management and post implementation support

 

Our Must Haves:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst with P&C industry experience

  • Familiarity with insurance policy administration systems, claims platforms and underwriting tools

  • Proven experience of eliciting requirements, documenting and delivering high quality business analysis deliverables

  • Strong understanding of business rules management and experience implementing rules in core insurance systems

  • Ability to facilitate a team to consensus on scope, design decisions, and implementation decisions

  • Knowledge of SQL and data analysis

  • Ability to ask strong questions to help the team see areas that may lead to problems

  • Experience of translating business requirements into technical design, supported by development teams

  • Experience using Business Analysis tools, techniques and methodologies in a mix of delivery frameworks – including Agile

  • Experience working with cross-functional agile teams and making prioritization and roadmap recommendations

  • Ability to build strong working relationships across the business, technology and third-party software houses and/or technology providers

  • Outstanding verbal and non-verbal communication skills

  • Evidence of applying “soft” influencing, persuasion and consultancy skills that will influence scope & design, helping to ensure the project outcomes move the business forward towards the strategic ambition

  • Insurance industry experience

  • Experience with Organizational Change Management (OCM)

Salary Range: $95 – $120k

 

 

**Please note that this position is hybrid and requires two (2) days in our office weekly**
