The University of Texas at Austin is seeking to hire a Senior Business Analyst for the Planning, Design and Construction Department.

Purpose

Supports Planning, Design and Construction through identification, documentation and development of data automation, analysis and reporting tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and information. Serve as lead representative for resolution of automation and database functionality issues.

Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement: Leads strategic process improvement initiatives across multiple functional areas to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes through identification, documentation, and development of data automation, analysis, and reporting tools. Leads process improvement teams with staff and implements process changes directly.
  • Technical Liaison: Serves as the technical liaison and developmental lead on all technology improvements, including AssetWorks and custom databases. Documents related problems and issues, coordinates resolutions with developers, and collaborates with Campus Operations and other campus organizations.
  • Database Development: Leads and executes business process analysis projects. Presents results to senior leaders using existing and custom-built analytical tools. Identifies exceptions and areas for improvement, and implements process changes based on available data to correct deficiencies.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Designs and develops visualization and analysis tools using Tableau, Power BI, Excel, and other analysis software and data sources as necessary to meet the department's performance objectives. Oversees data integrity, identifies gaps, discovers trends in business processes, and proposes solutions or best practices. Consolidates information for organizational leadership and makes recommendations for improvement opportunities.
  • Metrics: Provides necessary changes to data collection and entry rule sets for senior management to improve organizational reporting, root cause analysis, and performance measurement, informing critical organizational needs and work priorities.
  • Other related functions as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Training, certification, and/or experience in a business analyst role. Experience leading automation projects. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. One year experience using querying tools and business intelligence applications to collect, analyze, interpret, and present information from relational database systems. Very strong skills with Excel. Demonstrated good communication skills and attention to detail.    Experience working with very large data files.  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.  

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Three years experience using querying tools and business intelligence applications to collect, analyze, interpret, and present information from multiple relational database systems. Demonstrated customer service orientation  Working knowledge of design and construction business processes.  Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), Access and PowerPoint. 

Salary Range

$74,000 + depending on qualifications
