The Senior Financial Analyst and Executive Assistant is responsible for detailed analytical reviews and reconciliations, preparing and overseeing funder reports for Ministry of Community and Social Services, Ministry of Health, Local Health Integration Network, City of Toronto, and United Way. This position is also reponsible for the detailed analysis for quarterly budget projections and annual budget preparation, audit preparation, backup support to the Manager of Finance, and administrative support duties to the Director of Finance and Information Technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares reports to Association’s funders on a quarterly and annual basis, specifically budget submission and quarterly reports; 
  • Communicates on behalf of the Association with multiple funders, investigating funds due to or owing from the Association and ensuring they are appropriately reconciled and accounted for;
  • Co-ordinates Association–wide quarterly review meetings with the Manager of Finance and Director of Finance and IT and attend these meetings; investigates any financial discrepancies and generates the financial portion of the report to the Association’s Board of Directors;
  • Prepares lead sheets for revenue accounts (including government revenue, tenant rents, fees for services, fundraising and deferred revenue), accounts payable, accounts receivable and expense accounts for the Association-wide annual audit;
  • Reconciles detailed and complex spreadsheet related to Association-wide mortgages, loans, capital assets, deferred capital contributions and capital replacement reserves;
  • Reviews, analyzes and reconciles organization-wide balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, including:  accounts payable, accrued liabilities, deferred revenue , tenant rents receivable, prepaid expenses;
  • Acts as the central contact in the Finance Department for inquiries regarding GP Dynamics, Management Reporter systems, and bank-related items, provide software support and create customized reports as per program requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • In-depth Knowledge of an academic discipline normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree (e.g. Accounting or Business Administration) or a Level 3 CGA (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
  • 5 - 7 years directly related work experience;
  • Knowledge of the social service sector and awareness of women’s issues;
  • Knowledge of culturally diverse communities
  • Superior and proven organizational and administrative skills, including an ability to work to deadlines;
  • Superior and proven accuracy to detail required;
  • Ability to work under pressure, respond to changing priorities and function as a highly efficient assistant;
  • Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Strong interpersonal skills required;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to think strategically, plan ahead and anticipate needs and issues;
  • Demonstrated good judgement and interpersonal skills;
  • Advanced computer competency in Excel spreadsheets;
  • Computer competency in word processing, and accounting software (GP Dynamics and MR preferred);
  • Experience working with volunteers or committees;
  • Uses good judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential information.
Note: It may be necessary at times to work in excess of 35 hours per week during audits, including evenings and weekends. Restriction on vacation prior to and during the year-end closing and annual audit (approximately 8 weeks/year).
