Department Overview






This Financial Analyst 2 position exists within the OHSU Finance to support 30+ periop and procedural areas in healthcare, along with the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Ortho, & Dotter (IR) within the School of Medicine Financial Support Unit.Β 









Function/Duties of Position






This position supports the development, implementation, and management of financial policies, operational plans, and strategic goals for these departments. Overall scope is to provide analytical support for budgeting and financial reporting for all departments listed above.Β  The financial analyst 2 positon supports the director in managing $800M in revenues, and $80M in foundation funding, and ensures alignment of financial operations focusing on short to long term operational plans (3-5 years)

The position provides expertise in Oracle, OGA, Axiom Cognos, Rubix, CANDID, Qgenda and other OHSU information systems to develop and name queries to analyze financial data, review and report variance analysis of expense and revenue on all Department Funds and perform a key role in annual financial processes such as Budget and Fiscal Year End.Β Β  The position supports the Director and Senior Director in providing financial analysis and support.

As our organization undergoes reorganization, the scope of this role may shift. The incumbent should be prepared to adapt to evolving responsibilities and contribute to new initiatives as they arise. Flexibility and a proactive approach will be key to success in this position.









Required Qualifications






  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university.Β 
  • AND
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience
  • 36 hours of accounting courses as described above, or an accounting degree, or demonstrate proficiency of accounting principles (e.g. GAAP).Β  These will be noted on individual position descriptions.
  • Two years of professional healthcare, finance and research administration, and/or relevant financial analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy, establish effective working relationships, and maintain a high degree of professionalism in dealing with OHSU faculty, staff and external funding agencies.
  • Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in a changing environment, possess excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with OHSU policies and procedures.
  • MS Access Expert expertise.
