Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst provides financial analysis and reporting support for finance team, assigned business units and legal entities.

  • Lead the development of timely and accurate ongoing financial budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, profitability, and management reports for WPCU across assigned business units and legal Interact with peers and management at multiple organizational levels to explain the planning process, identify factors impacting financial trends, and recommend opportunities for improvement.(30%)
  • Develop ad hoc analyses and financial models to support financial decisions, including the development of strategic business cases for projects, assigned business units, and entities. (30%)
  • Assist with the maintenance and multiple data file uploads into the financial planning software as well as the file preparation and upload into accounting system. (10%)
  • Support business unit and finance team’s reporting, dashboard, and other information needs, including Board, management, and regulatory report and dashboard development. (10%)
  • Pursue a continuous improvement culture that helps create incremental financial value across member, employee-partner, and credit union stakeholders through identification of process improvement opportunities across assigned business units and entities. (10%)
  • Serve as finance representative on committees and project teams related to assigned business units. (10%)

Required Skills

The Financial Analyst must possess a background in financial analysis and analytical knowledge in the financial industry; including interpreting financial data and presenting results to executives of the credit union. In addition:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting or finance experience. Financial institution experience and experience with Prologue, Axiom or other (modern) financial system applications is preferred.
  • Advanced MS Office skills are required. Expert level Excel skills required.
  • Knowledgeable in SQL and in querying, reporting and data visualization tools. Ability to understand complex data, their relationships and define solutions. Experience with MS Power BI preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to simplify complex concepts to the essential components and deliver effective messages to a wide range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, reason, problem solve, and willingness to learn new concepts, methods, and technologies.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to drive results.
