Our Global Investment Banking business serves the complex needs of a wide range of clients from emerging growth and middle market U.S. regional companies to the largest global corporations across sectors and regions. By developing long-term, trusted relationships with clients, the Global Investment Banking team provides strategic mergers & acquisitions advisory, equity, leveraged finance and investment grade capital raising solutions. The industry groups within investment banking advise both corporate and financial sponsor clients within the Consumer & Retail, Financial Institutions, Healthcare, Industrials, Natural Resources, Real Estate & Lodging, Telecommunications, Media and Technology sectors.
Job Overview
The Business Associate/Analyst partners closely with and works directly for the industry group COO. Together, they serve as strategic advisors to the Group Head(s) and leadership team, focused on driving productivity and initiatives to help lead and manage their global business. Some key areas of focus include business strategy and planning, senior management presentations, client franchise analyses, business and banker performance measurement, competitor benchmarking through volume and proprietary fee-based market share and trend analyses, client information systems development/enhancements, internal and external communications, and business initiatives.
Business Associates/Analysts are key resources within each team providing support to help the group leaders more effectively manage their business. Key responsibilities include:
β’ Generate performance reports focused on driving business and team results
β’ Assist with investment banking fee analyses
β’ Perform comprehensive client planning, competitor and financial industry benchmark research
β’ Assist in creating business presentations on strategy, business performance, planning initiatives and other materials for internal and external audiences
β’ Prepare weekly and monthly group financial reporting using Excel (and VBA in some groups)
β’ Communicate and interact with team members across COO teams, finance, personnel, and technology
β’ Assist with a variety of ad hoc assignments, typically with time constraints
Qualifications
Seeking an ambitious, independent, and hardworking candidate with an interest in investment banking. An ideal candidate would have 2+ years of financial, operations, and general business support experience in the corporate & investment banking business, though lack of experience is not a barrier to a candidate who proves willing to put in the effort to learn quickly. A Bachelorβs degree is required and some financial background is helpful. Intermediate to advanced excel and powerpoint experience is essential in the role. For some groups, the position involves macro usage to perform reporting tasks and knowledge of VBA is required.
Candidates must demonstrate a combination of business aptitude, quantitative skills and strong written and verbal communication skills. Business Associates/Analysts are required to manage several projects at once and work effectively as an individual and as part of a team. Key characteristics include: attention to detail, ability to grasp concepts quickly, ability to multi-task, experience in managing critical projects and achieving successful results, initiative, leadership, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
