Develop and maintain interactive Power BI visualizations, reports, and dashboards
Collaborate with the IT team to ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for reporting
Design and implement data models, transformations, and calculations to meet reporting requirements
Contribute to the maintenance of data pipelines and sources using SQL and Snowflake
Perform detailed data analysis to identify issues, anomalies, and discrepancies in data
Work with cross-functional teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics
Analyze complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decisions
Stay current with Power BI features, best practices, and industry trends
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science, business analytics, mathematics, or a related field
A higher-level degree in a relevant field is a plus but not required
Proven experience as a Power BI Developer, Data Analyst, or in a similar data-focused role
Strong proficiency in Power BI, including:
Power Query for data transformation
DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating calculated columns and measures
Data modeling skills (including relationships, star schema, etc.)
Report and dashboard design to effectively communicate data insights
Proficiency in SQL for querying, data manipulation, and database integration
Experience with data visualization tools and techniques (e.g., Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, etc.)
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies, such as Snowflake or similar platforms
Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration techniques
Strong understanding of data analysis techniques and statistical concepts to extract actionable insights from data
Experience working with business stakeholders to define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics
Ability to perform data validation and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency
Familiarity with Life & Health insurance products, especially Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, and understanding of related data such as policy, claims, sales, and underwriting concepts
Skills:
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with all business stakeholders (from adjustors to underwriters) and present complex data insights in a clear, actionable manner to non-technical audiences
Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data and reporting issues to derive meaningful insights
Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy, consistency, and integrity
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing priorities
Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, business users, and leadership
