Chewy is hiring! We are seeking aΒ Business Intelligence Engineer II to join our People Analytics team within HR. This role will focus on building scalable data solutions, developing insightful visualizations, and performing statistical analyses to support workforce decision-making. The ideal candidate is a data-driven problem solver with strong SQL and Python skills and experience independently leading analytics projects Does this sound like you?

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable BI solutions to support HR and People Analytics initiatives.
  • Build interactive data visualizations to drive insights and decision-making, preferably within Tableau.
  • Leverage Generative BI tools such as Amazon QuickSight to automate data insights.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for ETL processes, data validation, and analytics.
  • Develop and automate Python scripts for data processing, analysis, and reporting.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and build models to uncover workforce trends and opportunities.
  • Partner with HR collaborators to define critical metrics, reporting frameworks, and data-driven insights.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance across HR data sources.
  • Optimize and streamline data pipelines, collaborating with data engineers to enhance ETL processes.
  • Support self-service analytics by developing scalable datasets and BI assets.
  • Work with work management tools such as JIRA, code repositories such as Git, and documentation platforms such as Confluence or Alation.
  • Lead projects independently, handling partners and getting results.

Qualifications Required:

  • 3+ years validated experience in BI, analytics, or data engineering roles.
  • Strong expertise in SQL (window functions, CTEs, performance tuning).
  • Experience with Python for data automation, transformation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (preferably Tableau).
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis and interpret data trends.
  • Experience with JIRA, Git, and documentation tools such as Confluence or Alation.
  • Shown ability to lead projects independently and work multi-functionally.
  • Willingness to mentor and coach junior Team Members.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Generative BI tools such as Amazon QuickSight.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (S3, Redshift, Athena, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Airflow for workflow automation.
  • Experience with DBT for data transformation.
  • Background in HR analytics or working with people data.
